I. About Organization Diagnostics, Inc. -- and Our People.

We are classical organization developers specializing in Organization Cultural Realignment to:

A. Our Recent Clients.

Our primary client niche is in the local, county, state, and federal government arenas, and complex organizations serving many distant locations. Within our client organizations we identify and cultivate a strong working relationship with a sponsor, client, client-organization, parallel organization teams, and front-line cultural realignment change agents. Each relationship is, we believe, critical to success.

C. Our Technology.

The Organization Cultural Realignment Technology we use has been developed by us for the exclusive use of our associates and our clients. It is constantly being upgraded through the revision of literature and improved consulting techniques based on lessons learned and client suggestions. Although we bring to each engagement a deliberate process that works, we are always open to alternatives that will improve results. We believe that it is 100% compatible with other popular technologies (such as TQM, BPR, etc.) which make it easier to engage with clients.


D. Our Guarantees.

1. Compatibility Guarantee. We guarantee substantial compatibility between what is currently being applied to solve your organization culture problems and what we have to offer. The models, materials, and techniques used by us in the remediation of culture are the latest and most advanced available within this area of specialty. What we do and how we do it are guaranteed compatible with contemporary models in popular use. This compatibility guarantee eliminates the risk of having to "start over" with a new technology, thereby assuring minimum confusion and turmoil in the transition to the practices we offer. Our failure to clearly demonstrate this compatibility to the satisfaction of our client may result in discontinued service without further obligation at the conclusion of any monthly billing cycle.

2. Satisfaction Guarantee. We guarantee sponsor/client satisfaction with our services. To this extent, and regardless of any written agreements of longer commitment that may be in place, we afford the sponsor exclusively an ongoing opportunity to discontinue services and further invoicing upon receipt and payment of any monthly invoice. We reserve, however, the right to an opportunity to understand and correct any conditions leading to the discontinuance of further service without invalidating this guarantee.


E. Our Professional Fees Package.

The professional fees charged by Organization Diagnostics, Inc. include the following continuous elements in each project activity:

1. Integrated Team Effort. ODI is committed to collaborative client service by an integrated team. Normally the team has three people assigned: a client contact lead team, and a support team member to handle all the behind the scenes details that often make the marginal difference in a highly successful project. Resources to the lead team include the senior consultant staff, which together represents over 50 years experience facilitating organization change. The client benefits from a diversity of thought and action. Diverse representation also provides continuity and stability to the project, aids with scheduling flexibility, and enhances client system interaction "chemistry."

2. Unique Technology Applications and Continuous Development. We develop and use our own time-tested technology in all client engagements. Our event materials, inventories, and surveys are original, authored by our senior consultants. At the conclusion of every project we reflect on potential improvements, integrate those that will improve performance, and tailor our applications whenever necessary. The full range of this comprehensive technology is available to all clients.

3. Research and Preparation. We prepare for each event by accounting for the individual needs of each client system. Our intention is to improve our client relationship by taking the time and making the effort to treat each organization we serve in accord with their own culture and unique circumstances. Although this perfect "fit" is not easily and quickly determined, we make a continuous effort to do so. Our methods may range from conducting deliberate fact-finding interviews, to researching the latest laws and regulations governing a client activity.

4. Group Work - Facilitation. The "ODI Way" of group facilitation is often the strongest feature of our work. We build ownership, foster collaborative decisions, and develop cohesion as a matter of course. Our use of color graphic facilitation techniques, our confident and flexible group process designs, and event follow-through with fully transcribed charts, offer a service and product combination unequaled by any other facilitation provider.

5. Individual Consultation. Our teams schedule frequent meetings with clients to assure our project is and stays on the track desired for optimal results. We are always available for telephone consultation, and can often provide just the right piece of literature to reinforce our efforts. We pride ourselves on being accountable and responsive to client needs. We initiate coaching opportunities for key people as a change effort progresses and we have available a leadership feedback process for those in the management chain who request it. ODI helps orchestrate the involvement of tip leadership. The team coaches the client to help create and maintain project momentum, to aid problem solving when appropriate, and to award progress in a timely manner.

6. Project Applications. ODI clients are normally fully engaged (our clients might even say "overworked"). In recognition of the increased demands that organization development places on an already overburdened workforce, and to assure project follow-through without disturbing client priorities, ODI consulting teams undertake all the administrative burden of preparing necessary documentation and other literature required for project success. If the production of a plan is required, ODI resources are used to produce the plan - ready to use. If training is required to implement the plan, we construct the original training materials and may also provide the training necessary for successful implementation.

The most recent addition to our basic service menu is the periodic "FIND OUT! Newsletter" that we produce and distribute across our client organizations about every 4 to 6 weeks. This assists managers in our client organizations by providing a single source telling people what is going on with our efforts in their organization. There are also built-in options to include tailored messages from top management in our publications. In some cases, this newsletter has come to serve a myriad of needs in addition to providing information about the use of our Technology.

7. Organizational Investment. ODI is the best supplied, equipped, and staffed organization development firm in the region. It is difficult to imagine a client organization development need that cannot be met from our store of potential client solutions. We maintain a comprehensive web site for our clients' use so that they can get materials when and where they need them. We maintain an adjunct cadre of well-trained and experienced organization developers so that client requirements can be met across town or across the country in small or large organizations. Our staff members work in teams chosen for their particular effectiveness to match the unique combination of needs of each client organization.


II. A Brief Description of Our Unique Services.

A. General Organization Development Consulting Services.

1. Professional Fees. General consulting professional fees for a team of two in-client consultants and one support person.

Price:

$ 2,000 per day.

2. Expenses. All expenses are invoiced at a rate and in amounts as agreed upon in advance.

B. Diagnostics.

Note: The following descriptions assume that the diagnostic function is part of a long-term organization development effort.

1. Inventories. We have developed a series of unique organization development inventories that surface individual preferences in selected areas such as ones relationship with Change, Leadership or Management, Communications Modalities, or Culture. These inventories are used to enhance individual performance and increase team productivity. These inventories may be administered as standalone self evaluative mechanisms, or they may be administered to groups for team development purposes. As such, these inventories are ideal for a range of activities that span individual coaching opportunities and large group interventions. Each inventory uses the Red, Blue, Green color code to specify specific preferences. Price includes processing and individualized feedback. The cost of inventories may be included in Realignment and Education packages. The cost of organization profiles may be included in Realignment and Education packages.

2. Surveys. Surveys are created from pre-approved item pools by representative members of the client organization to collect data and clarify trends that effect work. Most often cultural surveys are constructed to determine the status of an organization's culture as a predictor of individual performance, team productivity, work group innovation, network effectiveness, and organization profitability or financial growth potential. Surveys are processed using an in-house developed software package called CommunityWare. Survey results are fed back to the organization in a variety of ways that often include a data fair, in a large group environment. Surveys are priced to include the creation of the survey instrument, processing of results, development of trend information from the survey data results, and the production of reports. The cost of surveys may be included in Realignment and Education packages.

3. Interviews. We conduct one-on-one face-to-face interviews in a confidential volunteer environment with a promise of anonymity to collect information that will validate or invalidate data collected by other means. Specific quotes are not represented in the feedback report. Interview reports draw strong inferences to data collected by other means. The cost of interviews may be included in Realignment and Education packages.

Price:

Any number of 1/2 hour duration each interview. $ 100


4. Organization Profile Reports. We develop organizational profiles from already collected survey data only. Our organizational profiles include generic remediative recommendations. Each part of the profile contains a method for taking corrective action. Organizational profiles are constructed in such a way that they highlight remediative actions that can be isolated to small groups, but not identify individuals. Typically, the organizational profile is fed back to the whole organization in a single "data fair" gathering, while individual feedback sessions are available separately for those teams and work groups desiring more specific information and interpretation. The cost of organization profiles may be included in Realignment and Education packages.

The creation of an Organizational Profile at the price indicated below presumes that the data collection effort has been accomplished separately, for example, through the Quality of WorkLife Survey option.

NOTE: Organizational Profiles are a result of Diagnostic Surveys and Inventories.

First Report and Feedback Sequence. $ 2,500

C. Realignment.

1. The Executive and Management Retreat. Our retreat options include the use of our own inventories and surveys when appropriate. Although much of the agenda focuses on the client organization issues, our facilitation style incorporates broader outcomes that may effect the organization strategically. We research the industry and climate within which our client functions in order to serve their needs on both immediate and long-term concerns. The Executive and Management Retreat includes a preparation and post-observation component to best serve the overall needs of the client. Duration of the core retreat is normally one or two days.

Administrative Support for a Retreat. $ 1,500
Daily rate for core retreat days. $ 2,500 each



2. Future Planning. Our Future Planning service incorporates an abbreviated customer service diagnostic, and an accelerated creation of an organization Belief Set, and Strategy Bridge. Normally, a group of core planners numbering about 12 that constitute the primary leadership and management of an organization can complete the initial creation of a future plan within a three month period. The resulting document will form the basis for goal and objective setting outside the future planning regimen.

3. Executive Transition. When an organization changes significant leaders or managers, productivity takes a predictable and destructive downturn. During the six month "honeymoon" of the new manager, people hesitate making decisions, they are confused about new direction and policy, and unsure about the new culture. Time and money are lost while performance and productivity slowly rebound. The normal rebound cycle takes about six to nine months. Our Executive Transition service shortens this period and minimizes the productivity loss dramatically. The Executive Transition service normally lasts about 4 to 6 weeks and will include two off-site workshops. The Phases include: Chartering, Data Collection, Preparations for two Off-site Workshops, two Off-site Workshops, and a final Diagnostic Report.

4. Cultural Realignment. Cultural Realignment is a long-term synchronized program that is undertaken to irreversibly improve the culture of an organization so that work performed today builds increasing capacity to achieve the organization's future visions. It is dominated by people interactions that improve relationships and develop synergy potential. The five phases include: Preparation and Organization (includes a baseline diagnostic profile), Establishing the Organization Beliefs Set, Establishing the Organization Strategy Bridge, Establishing the Organization Work Regimen, and Developing Sustaining Mechanisms. The routine duration of each phase is approximately three months. Cultural Realignment is a core "package" that incorporates many other services outlined in this catalog. Normally, each unique group culture is limited to about 100 people characteristically with 10 managers. The first annual diagnostic check-up is included in the price.

Phase 1, with advance remediative commitment. $ 25,000

Phase 2 through 5. $ 37,500 each

5. Short Topic Presentations. Although our Technology is complex and suitable for meeting the demands of a formidable challenge in unaligned organizations, we are often asked to make short presentations on focused topics that fall within our scope and expertise. Typically, these topical presentations are of half day or one day duration. Topics include such favorites as: Change Management, Leadership in a Participative Organization, Developing Strategy, Understanding Difficult People, and a myriad of Culture-related subjects.

Price:

Per consulting team of two, per half day. $ 1,500


6. Group Facilitation and Facilitated Learning. Facilitating a group of about 30 people in the pursuit of their expectations requires a team of two up-front facilitators and normally the support of a third team member. Typically, group facilitation will require some advance work, limited design work, and follow-through considerations. Group facilitation skills include the use of advanced techniques designed to resolve conflict and synergize decision-making.

Price:

Per consulting team, per up-front day. $ 2,000
Per consulting team, per non-up-front half-days. $ 1,000


7. Coaching. Often, during the course of a normal intervention, or as a separate intervention, individuals require assistance in reaching their full potential. In many cases, the organization falls short of reaching its full potential because an individual is unwilling or unable to make full use of their latent talent and ability. Coaching is an effective and cost efficient way to lever human potential in many cases where a group setting will not produce the desired results. In some cases, incidental coaching may be an integral part of a package service. Coaching occurs one-on-one in an office or conference room setting.

Price:

Individual 1 1/2 hour coaching sessions. $ 250


8. Meeting Facilitation. Within the context of the on-going client organization, conditions often require meeting facilitation that calls for routine facilitation skills with minimal advance preparation or handout materials. Group size is limited to the size of the intact cultural group being served, or a reasonable part of that group. The facilitation team normally consists of two members, but may require the presence of other minimal participating consultants as well.

Price:

Full Consulting Team for each day. $ 2,500


D. Education.

1. Cultural Facilitation Course. Our Cultural Facilitation Course includes topics not normally found in routine facilitation courses. Many people who have completed, for example, TQM facilitator training find the requirements of this course far more demanding in the "human" side of implementing improved processes in their organizations. The course has five major components: Facilitation Support Considerations, Graphic Facilitation, Group Facilitation, Process Facilitation, and Cultural Facilitation. The course is five days in duration. Facilitator Revivals are held periodically when the course is included as part of a Realignment package.

When conducted in-house for up to 25 participants. $ 12,500
When offered as an individual invitational. $ 1,100 each


2. Cultural Paradigms. Those in leadership and management positions require new skills and abilities to influence members of organizations in highly collaborative environments and cultures. The first of these new skill are the knowledge and experience necessary to shift paradigms and cultures through four sequential and essential zones. Participants learn to recognize each zone, and how to help people move from the one they are in to the next level of performance, productivity, innovation, and effectiveness.

This skill is an essential development building block for programming an organization's culture. It removes the accidental cultural programming norm and replaces it with a deliberate and more effective way to achieve a high yield culture that sustains a high quality of work life.

Price:

Full day with a maximum of 25 participants. $ 3,500


3. New Patterns of Organizational Influence. Participants are exposed to highly sophisticated and advanced technologies of interpersonal influence that are directed at achieving win/win conditions. These technologies are linked directly to already-known and practiced techniques that achieve fast rapport, and bring about more powerful decisions between the participants and those with whom they must deal on a day to day basis.

Attendees will learn theory and practice and have ample opportunity to experience firsthand these powerful techniques. Much of the agenda is devoted to experiential learning with only brief lecturettes on focused topics.

Price:

Full day with a maximum of 25 participants. $ 3,500


4. Systemic Thinking. The Unifying Human Systems (UHS) Model is used as a backdrop for advancing systems thinking attributes and as a framework for systemic cultural programming. Participants peel back each layer of organizational culture to reveal the effect it has on performance and productivity and how to increase its impact on bottom-line profitability.

The entire focus of these modules is on increasing the value added by leaders and managers to the organization's performance, productivity, innovation, and profitability. It defines how leaders and managers must fill new roles in a more collaborative and participative culture where the real synergy for progress relies on lateral partnerships more than traditional hierarchical relationships.

Price:

Full day with a maximum of 25 participants. $ 3,500


5. Human Relations Training. Organizations operating under customer responsive cultures require new human relations skills to better complete this interface. This 12-hour course provides an experiential platform for learning those skills quickly. Three course phases include: My Organization Through the Customers' Eyes, My Organization's Customer Satisfaction Teams, and Keeping My Organization In Tip-Top Shape. The program is conducted by trained cultural facilitators under the watchful eye and assisting experience of Organization Diagnostics partnering consultants. Data is collected from customers in advance of the session to identify trends requiring improvement.

Price:

Ninety-day intermittent involvement. $ 12,500


6. StreamLearning. StreamLearning events provide the opportunity for learners to come from a variety of client organizations or consulting support organizations for the singular purpose of learning more about how to improve performance, productivity, innovation, and profitability. The events are scheduled quarterly for two days and generally follow a topic theme of broad interest to all Organization Diagnostics clients. A slice of client organizations are invited to attend (people from all levels in the organization).

Price:
For members of retainer-based client organizations seat allocations are made centrally and are included in the retainer/sustainer package price.

All others. $ 95


III. Introductory Offers.

Qualifying* potential clients desiring to use ODI services on an introductory basis, may elect an "introductory offer." The price is drastically reduced, yet services are nearly in line with full service options. These limited services provide an opportunity for ODI to demonstrate the Return on Investment potential and test the chemistry with the client organization. Services are limited to a pre-determined diagnostic (such as the current Quality of WorkLife Survey).

Price:
For each potential respondent member of the organization, the price includes the pre-determined survey and inventory.

$ 35 per potential respondent.


* Qualifications depend on the quantity of potential respondents, ability for each respondent to access our internet site for the purpose of taking the pre-determined survey and inventory, and the availability of ODI resources.


IV. Sustainment

Sustainment of Phased Services (Phases 2 through 5) following the successful completion of a full cycle (Phase 1 through Phase 5) are priced at 1/2 the original price for sustained full service. Standby prices are at 1/3 the initial rate.


V. Obtaining and Using ODI Services.

The following five progressive stages are typical of how our relationship with a potential client develops into a strong service partnership. Our sustaining relationship often takes on the characteristics of an organization development outsourced cell. We seek long-term indefinite connections with our clients that continuously demonstrate value added returns on their investments. At the same time we seek to decrease reliance on our consulting teams by transferring skills quickly to internal resources.



A. Showcase or StreamLearning Events. New clients are often acquired through Showcase or StreamLearning events. We host these events periodically as the prime opportunity for potential clients to get to know something about us, our Technology, and our associates. As a routine part of the post event follow-up a few interested potential clients will invite us to their facilities for a visit to talk more in detail about our work. We try hard to assign an initial team comprised of just the right combination needed for the work we think will be required -- but sometimes the team members will shift due to client needs.



B. On-site Visit(s). During our on-site visits we will make every effort to collect the information we need to be sure we understand the scope of the work that might be required. We'll prepare and deliver a proposal with a presentation, if desired. These visits are intended to be sure we are "on track" with the project right from the start. This includes examining the potential needs for internal diagnostic CommunityWare in terms of both equipment and software configurations.

Regular office visits continue throughout the consulting relationship to assure continuity and responsiveness.



C. Initial Event(s). We are so convinced that our Technology has universal application that we are willing to conduct one or two low-cost "sample" or "Introductory Offer" events before a long-term contractual commitment is reached. We will not, however, proceed with an event based approach if we know that a long-term commitment will be required. These initial events are designed to be sure the chemistry is right between us and that commitment is sufficient to solve the root problems. Although initial event designs may vary slightly, some form of organization diagnostics are always included.



D. Long-term Engagement. Depending upon the focus, engagements may be short, or last several years. Both client urgency and intensity will determine the pace of the engagement and its duration.

Under normal conditions a 24 month period is required to effect significant positive changes in the culture of a client organization using our Technology. During the initial Phases, our consulting team(s) will perform many change agent functions that will ultimately shift to internal change agent teams. It is during the first year that cultural facilitators are trained and begin functioning. The first year is intense as these and other internal resources are trained to replace external experts during the second year.

During our second year we additionally concentrate on pockets of resistance that may have developed. The turning point that ends the first year is also marked by fresh diagnostics that establish revised priorities.

Long term engagements will also include quarterly StreamLearning activities which offer learning opportunities with other client organizations who may be encountering similar changes.


E. Sustainment Involvement. Following the sustainment Phase, the organization has acquired internal capacity to continue and sustain the change process productively. Our role then turns to improved techniques and specialized responses to unique needs. Our emphasis also shifts from the whole system to the health of the internal change agent capacity. Support then becomes continuous.
